FUNERALS

Sadly, all of us experience bereavement at some point

in our lives.

We are here to help.

Supporting the Bereaved

Sadly, all of us experience bereavement at some point in our lives.

Every member of our community is always welcomed by our Church and particularly when we face difficult times.

It does not matter whether or not you are a member, whether your loved one was a member, or whether you have ever attended one of our services. The Church is here for everyone, and we will do our best to offer comfort and support to you.

Our Senior Pastor, Rev'd Gary Noonan, can conduct funeral services in church, at a crematorium of your choosing, at the graveside, or a combination of these settings.

He will arrange to meet with your family, take time to hear the life story of the person who has passed away, and to develop an understanding of how you would like the funeral service to be.

While there needs to be a religious element, like a prayer for example, you do not have to include hymns and could simply choose a piece of reflective music instead.

Some families like to participate in the service themselves, to read a tribute or a poem, others prefer not to.

Whatever you decide, the funeral service will be entirely personal to you and your family; it is your way of celebrating the life of your loved one, and of giving thanks for them, and should bring comfort and hope to you all.

A funeral service usually lasts between 20 to 30 minutes.

In the weeks and months afterwards, our Minister or members of our Pastoral Team will be in touch with your family to offer comfort, support, and any practical help that you might need.

Please contact our Rev'd Gary Noonan, or your Funeral Director, who will help you to make all the necessary arrangements.

Memorial Courtyard

The Moore Memorial Courtyard of First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood is a multi-purpose space for a wide variety of church activities.

One of the purposes of the Courtyard is as a repository and memorial for the cremated remains of church members and others who are eligible. As such the Courtyard is considered a place for quiet meditation and remembrance.

Members of First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood, their spouses, their parents and their children are eligible to use the church courtyard as a repository for the cremated remains. “Members” include active, resident and non-resident members.

Those eligible for interment may reserve a Courtyard site through the church office.
