Our Approach to Education and Learning

At First Pres, Kirkwood we put an emphasis on education and learning from the perspective of faith development and discernment. Through all we teach and study, we are open to the movement of the Holy Spirit, guiding us toward an ever more faithful understanding of Scripture, Jesus, the church, and our part in God’s on-going ministry and mission in our world. We are a community where questions are honored and respected, where differences of opinion, political persuasion, or theological outlook enhance our understanding of God’s gracious activity in our lives, our community, and the world. As a church in the Reformed tradition, we are always open to how God is doing a new thing in our midst. Our learning opportunities are geared toward helping everyone grow in their faith and respond to the needs of our neighbors.

Wednesday Morning Book Group with Dr. David Holyan
9:00a.m. in Room 029
January 25 – February 15, 2017

Join Dr. Holyan on Wednesday morning at 9:00a.m. for a slow read through Wayne Muller’s classic Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight In Our Busy Lives. Muller invites us to consider ‘the road less travelled’ – the road of wisdom, peace, deep breathing, prayer. We will consider how to get beneath the fray and frenzy of the world in order to rest in the glory of the Lord. We will discover the joy of being led beside still waters. To sign-up and reserve a book, please contact Paula in the office at (314) 965-0326 or paulab@kirkwoodpres.org, or sign-up near the Welcome Center.
