The annual Alternative Gift Market, sponsored by the Mission Committee, will be held on Sundays, December 2 and 9, from 8:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the Gathering Space. The market provides one-stop, hassle-free shopping for a variety of unique gifts that benefit local and international charities and fair trade. Storytelling & Music

Sunday, December 2, 10AM in the Chapel:  “O Little Town of Bethlehem”  Lynn Rubright (narrator), Daniel Rubright (guitarist), and Lydia Ruffin (singer), will flesh out the story of Rev. Phillips Brooks, author of “O little Town of Bethlehem” (1868).   An  Anglican rector of  Holy Trinity Church in Philadelphia during the civil war, Rev. Brooks ministered to both northern and southern sympathizers suffering from the ravages of the civil war.  But Rev. Brooks also declared himself an abolitionist and supporter of Abraham Lincoln.

December 9, 2018, 10AM in the Chapel:  “Apple Tree Christmas”  Lynn Rubright will tell her adaptation of the classic story, “Apple Tree Christmas” (1984, reprinted 2005) by Trinka Hakes Noble. This tale of a farm family living in a small community in southern Michigan in 1874 celebrates the importance of a old apple tree to each family member, until a winter storm changes everyone’s perspectives. SandyWeltman with his harmonica, will musically illustrate the story.  Grace Bradley will be vocalist.
